At points I found myself sitting there saying to myself, "Why am I here, playing this game?" And, as seasoned console rpg gamers know, that's where the experience ends (weak pun unintentional). Some fans may argue that you're not supposed to think about that too much, kind of like the psychological aspect of Fight Club just accept it and continue on. Anime and the like have never been known to have the most sensical (is that a word?) stories, but the majority is a lot better than this. It's not complicated or confusing, just stupid. The things that most people criticize about the series are accented in this game. Squaresoft should be commended for trying something new, as it has been persecuted in the past for not changing the series enough. Maybe we’ll even get an entire snowboarding DLC, instead of shoving it smack dab in the middle of an apocalyptic quest.Apart from Final Fantasy II, this is the most different game of the Final Fantasy series. The big door that Intergrade opens is the possibility for more side-content based around FF7 Remake. It’s likely we see new characters appear in specific sections of the sequel that are built around them, instead of throwing everyone into any given scenario. The remake features much more deliberate storytelling that doesn’t allow much flexibility for party customization. However, if heroes like Cid do appear, they’ll have to be included in a very different way. Now it seems like it’s much more plausible that we’ll see all the old faces as playable characters in some form.

It didn’t seem like there’d be a place for her in the sequel, but Intergrade shakes things up quite a bit. We’ve already gotten a glimpse at Cait Sith, but when will other playable characters from the original show up? That question was especially important when it came to characters like Yuffie, who are entirely optional in the original. Speaking of Yuffie, the major implication here is that we may be seeing more familiar faces in the sequel. Cait Sith cameos in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
